Electronics & Communication Engineering
Mr.G.S.SURENDRA BABU, M.Tech.,(Ph.D),
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering experiences a tremendous growth since its inception. We produce quality engineers with acumen to meet the growing demand for technical manpower in the industrial arena.
Vision:-
To excel in the emerging areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering by inculcating in students and faculty a strong commitment to transform the society and the nation on the path of sustainable development.
Mission:-
- To establish a substantially well resourced department to promote best teaching and learning standards.
- To empower the faculty through experimental exposure in training, innovation and pedagogy to attain substantial outcomes.
- To create excellent engineering manpower committed to societal and nation’s development.
The Department is equipped with excellent infrastructure and state of the art equipment to explore the technological challenges in the areas of Electronics, Communication Networks, VLSI design, Digital Signal Processing.
The department of ECE was established in 2008 with an intake of 60 students in the UG programme and it has been increased to within intake of 120 students in the year 2010. The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty. The department has good infrastructural facilitates and is equipped with full-fledged laboratories. The department also has audio-visual facilities with one LCD and four OHP’s for effective teaching. The staff members are deputed to participate in workshops, conferences, symposia and refresher courses to keep in pace with recent developments in the field of Electronics & Communications Engineering. The faculty is well motivated and takes personal care of the students and council them at regular intervals and informs the parents / guardians about the progress of their ward regularly. Academic monitoring committee chaired by one of the senior faculty member meets once in a fortnight to review the academic progress of each section and see to that the class work progresses smoothly as per the academic calendar.
Extra tutorial classes are conducted to take more personal care of the students. This helps the student in preparing for the semester end examinations and also aids in facing the competitive exams and interviews confidently.
Personality development of students is taken care by conducting special classes in the third year of their study. Also, English Communication Skills Lab is conducted in the second year of study as a part of their academic curriculum. The teaching faculty is active in conducting research and the list of publications by the staff in National conferences. As a part of the curriculum, Industrial visits are arranged for students of B.E 3/4 (ECE) in I-Semester. Students of our department actively participate in National-level Student Paper Contests being organized various other Engineering Colleges. Some of them have also been awarded in these paper contests.

Embedded Systems:
M.Tech. in Embedded Systems is a 2-year long full-time course divided into 4 semesters. An Embedded System is a combination of hardware systems and software systems built into equipment that is not always recognized as being computerized, such as the systems that control a car’s anti-lock brakes, an automatic pilot of an aircraft, or the sensors and filters used in processing plants.
Embedded Systems call for real-time operation, maintenance-reliability, and cost-effectiveness, thus placing heavy demands on the accompanying software and hardware. Embedded Systems is an advanced technology combining both software and hardware components. This is used in various domains like Telecom, Industrial, medical, Mobile technology, Automation, Home Automation, Automotive systems, Airplanes, Vending machines Military, and Toys.
Using Embedded Systems, a variety of sophisticated systems can be developed, such as smart-phones, infusion pumps, pedometers, infotainment systems, TV, electronic gadgets, fridge, and AC, among others. Embedded Systems are employed in applications such as Product Designing, Software, Product Development, Hardware, Firmware, RTOS development, PCB designing, and Testing.
Almost all Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical systems are now controlled by controllers which are embedded as part of the complete system. Such a system is an Embedded System. Some examples of such a system are tele-communication systems, transportation systems, chemical-processing plants such as aircrafts and automobiles, home appliances, and bio-medical instruments such as microwave ovens and washing machines. Embedded Systems are typically designed to perform certain specific tasks, often in real time, and satisfying certain performance requirements. This is achieved through the controllers and software called firmware, which are stored in the Read Only Memory of the controller.
